NYK finalized long term charter with JERA for one of its biggest LNG tanker under construction

Japanese shipping line Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has sealed a long-term charter deal with compatriot JERA for one of its LNG carriers under construction in South Korea.

The Tokyo-headquartered behemoth has fixed a 174,000 cu m unit scheduled for delivery from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in 2027. The deal is the eleventh LNG carrier charter NYK secured with Japan’s largest utility.

NYK has a massive LNG carrier orderbook of nearly 40 ships spread across Chinese and South Korean yards, of which seven are listed at Hyundai Samho.
